Please donate to our shop in Clacton

We have a shop in Clacton that sells donated items to raise money for The J’s Hospice. We always need new stock so please think of us when you are having a tidy up, spring cleaning or moving house and have good-quality items that you do not want anymore.

Please see below to find out how you can:
- Make a donation to our shop
- Gift Aid your donations to make them work 25% more
- Host a donation station
- Become a shop volunteer

How to Gift Aid your donations

When you donate items to our shop, your donations could be worth 25% more if you sign up to Gift Aid.

If you are an eligible UK taxpayer and donate money to The J’s Hospice, we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give through Gift Aid at no extra cost to you - so every £1 you give is actually worth £1.25.

We have now introduced the Gift Aid scheme to our Clacton shop - so we can also claim an extra 25% on the amount raised from the goods that you donate. This means that if you donate a bag of clothes and they sell for a total of £20, they would actually raise £25 through Gift Aid.

It is really easy for your donations to raise 25% more - just ask for a Gift Aid declaration form when you drop your donations off at our Clacton shop or at our office at Alexandra House in Great Baddow.

When you have signed up for Gift Aid, you will be given a Donor ID Number which must be written on every bag of goods that you donate.

Can you host a Donation Station?

Our donation stations are an easy way to collect items to sell at our shop. Nuffield Health in Chelmsford has had a donation station for over a year which has been really successful. Thanks to the generosity of its staff and customers, their donated items have helped to raise over £19,200. Manager Steve Boyd is delighted: “I am impressed that our donation station has raised so much. Nuffield Health Chelmsford is pleased to support a fantastic charity like The J’s Hospice that takes care of young people. We are very grateful to our members for being so generous and ask them to keep bringing in their donations so we can raise even more.”

Do you know of a busy place – e.g. an office, school, church, shopping centre or gym - who would like to collect donations for us? Please contact our fundraising team: 01245 475474  or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Shop volunteers needed

We need more volunteers at our shop to help on the sales floor and in the sorting area. If you can get to Rosemary Road in Clacton and have a few hours to offer as a volunteer, please call our shop manager on 01255 479573 for more information.
