The J’s Hospice depends on a dedicated team of volunteers at our offices in Great Baddow, working with our patients, at our fundraising events and at our shop in Clacton. Please see below for our current volunteer vacancies.

"As I work with the nurses, I can see that The J's Hospice really puts the patients first - it is a charity that you can really trust and I feel privileged to be part of it. Helping to make a difference is very rewarding." Rene

The support of these volunteers means we can do what we do best - provide hospice and respite care in Essex for young adults with life limiting and life threatening conditions. More than 30 individuals currently offer their time to The J’s Hospice on a regular basis and many more volunteer for ad-hoc events, but we are continually looking for the added specialist support and assistance that truly does make a difference to the people we care for.

"Having met The J's Hospice founder Denise, I can only share her vision for the opportunity to help offer young adults the best possible time in their short lives. I find it very rewarding to volunteer at the office and an honour to help at the Inspire! groups." Beryl

People volunteer here for many reasons. Some have personal experience of the Hospice and want to help. Others are retired, and looking for something to add structure to their day. Some are looking to rebuild their confidence and skills, following a break from work. Still more want to offer existing skills and others want to learn new skills. Above all, it is also a great way to take on new challenges, develop new friendships and have some good fun along the way! If you can spare a couple of hours, a day or can even volunteer full-time for a while, we are very grateful for your help.

"Fulfilment, sense of achievement, purposeful, no two days are the same.....exciting, fun, plus building friendships. Knowing the little I do will benefit all the young people the J's will care for." Lyn
